La Hague Nucléaire
- This
hitherto remote part of the north west corner of the Cotentin peninsula
was to become home to two separate parts of the nuclear industry. Along
the D901 near Jobourg the COGEMA facility was
built in the 1960s to reprocess spent atomic fuel. Then to the south in
Flamanville, on the site of a former iron mine closed in 1962, a
nuclear powered electricity generating plant was built for EDF, going
live in the mid 1980s.

- Cette
partie quelque peu éloignée au nord-ouest de la presqu'île du Cotentin
devait abriter deux parties de l'industrie nucléaire. Près de Jobourg
l'usine COGEMA a été construite aux années 1960 pour retraiter les
combustibles atomiques. Puis au sud à Flamanville, sur le site d'une
mine de fer fermée en 1962, une centrale nucléaire a été construite
pour EDF, mise en service au milieu des années 80. |
